Piano
Under the direction of Steven Philcox, the collaborative pianist program is designed for talented pianists who are interested in collaboration and musical partnerships.
Pianists will receive ongoing mentoring and coaching with resident guest artists and faculty, as well as dedicated piano faculty mentorship.
In this program, pianists participate in opera and vocal coachings, perform with OOTA singers in masterclasses and recitals, and also have the opportunity to play in scene and operatic rehearsals.
Pianists will receive:
- 2 hour lessons per week with master teacher
- 2 coachings per week with master coach
- Movement
- Collaborative work in voice studios in balanced rotation
- Piano Masterclasses focusing on solo and chamber music repertoire
This program will be limited to 6 participants, with two full tuition free scholarships available to be awarded on the basis of merit.
Mezzo-soprano Katherine Maysek is finishing her third year of a Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance at McGill University with Sanford Sylvan.· This summer at Opera on the Avalon Katherine will sing the role of Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figgaro by Mozart.·
