Katie Tabon, Zita

Katie Hannigan Tabon, Mezzo-Soprano, has a lush, full and colorful operatic voice. Katie is very versatile in her performing, and is at home with several different musical styles including oratorio, song, vocal chamber music, and opera.

She has attended the Crittenden Opera Workshop Program (2004), Westchester Vocal Institute (2008), and was CoOPERAtive Opera Fellow (2011).· Katie has performed Maurya in Riders to the Sea, Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro, Mother/Allison in This is the Rill Speaking (Recorded for Albany Records 2008) Maman in L’Enfant et les sortileges, Don Ramiro in La Finta Giardiniera, Charlotte in A Little Night Music, Old Prioress in Dialogues of the Carmelites, Sandmann in Hansel und Gretel, Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Mercedes in Carmen.· Katie has worked with Mercury Opera Rochester and was also featured as a solo artist in Vaughn William’s Serenade to Music with Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (Recorded with Harmonium Mundi Records 2011).· Katie performed excerpts from Mahler’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn with Eastman School Symphony in 2007, and was the recipient of the Concerto Competition Prize at Eastman School of Music in 2008. Later that year, Katie was awarded a performance of Jake Heggie’s Deepest Desire for Mezzo Soprano and Chamber Orchestra with Eastman Philharmonia Chamber Orchestra. Katie obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Voice and Opera from SUNY Purchase College Conservatory in White Plains, NY, and a Master’s and Doctorate Degree in Voice Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY.
